2021 Oscars

  • Gartrell Church Hall Prescott Terrace Rose Park, SA, 5067 Australia (map)

Rescheduled. Be sure to advise Paula of your intention to attend so that she can reserve seating.

The Oscars is an ESCC traditional competition/social gathering that follows the weekend away. This year, because of the number of people involved, we have had to manage it differently. We will meet at the Gartrell Church Hall on a Saturday afternoon.

People who attended the weekend away are asked to upload three digital images. The eligibility rule is that any image taken at Burra or while driving to or from Burra is acceptable.

Our associate member, Keith Seidel will judge and score all images. Keith will not have images in the competition. A trophy, otherwise known as the Oscar, provided courtesy of Don Brooks, will be presented to the member whose image is judged best on the night. Non-member partners or friends who attended and took photos may upload their images for judging. The winning non-member image will receive a Don Brooks trophy as well as the inaugural David Bishop Bottle of Bubbles prize and trophy. The trophy is the bottle. The prize is inside the bottle. Some may think this more desirable than the Oscar!

Keith Seidel was shooting at Burra with a camera that has been modified for infrared photography. He will give a presentation on the ins and outs of infrared photography and show some of his Burra images.

The meeting will be followed by dinner at 6:00 pm at the Arkaba Hotel where reservations have been made. [MAP] Note: This dinner is in lieu of the club lunch formerly scheduled for 25 July.
